The remix train continues with Rio based The Twelves. They’re currently tearing up clubs worldwide with their improvised live blend of keyboards, drum machines and on-the-fly remix mastery. Their cut of La Roux’s “In For the Kill” is a trippy magic carpet ride of 80’s sci-fi synth action. Metric’s “Help I’m Alive” is given a bouncy bass beat and some hot action that’s somewhere between Ghostland Observatory and Cut Copy. What sends the duo over the top into the territory of blogworthy is their choice of A+ material to work from and killer live sets. Like most good remixers they understand it’s about expressing a perspective, having fun with the music and not keeping too many sacred cows weighing you down when you reach for the fader.
