Brazilian artist Nele Azevedo, working with the World Wildlife Fund created 1000 ice miniature people in a public square in Berlin to draw attention to the melting ice caps in Greenland and Antarctica. The effect of the 40% reduction of the ice caps in the last eighty years has been detrimental to polar bears, whales, and seals in these regions. This installation was called “1,000 men of Ghiaccio”.
