Weirdo pop is probably the most apt description of Yeasayer I’ve heard. Their music is full of polyrythmic dis-harmonies, pops, clicks, chirps, beeps, and bizarre reverb effects that cacoon the chanty vocals in a web of sound. Lilke most webs this one is sticky as hell, catching your ear and holding on until to you give up your frantic struggles to make sense of your sonic predicament and give in to Yeasayer’s world. “Ambling Alp” is the first single from Odd Blood, the band’s 2nd LP, due 2/9 via Secretly Canadian.
