The Kissaway Trail

For whatever reason, maybe its the gloomy weather, convoluted history or just the deep wells of classical culture but the folks in the Old Country have the uncanny ability to take something we do and make it bigger, grander and more polished. Before you get up in arms and start waiving the Stars and Stripes think of Queen, the Who, The Beatles, or any number of European rock/pop acts. They consistently steal our formula and reinvent it as something more bombastic and edgy than we do. Oh yeah, and Radiohead. Europe even made Kings of Leon famous before we did and they’re from here! Take the Kissaway Trail, for example. Often compared to (and opening for) Passion Pit this Danish 5-piece has a sound that’s similar to Passion Pit but bigger, a little more driving, and with slightly more nuanced sonic landscapes (think less synth, more church bell. Funny but it works). In that sense they’re probably closer to the Arcade Fire than anyone. Give “SDP”, off the band’s upcoming sophomore album ‘Sleep Mountain’, a listen and enjoy the lush wall of sound as it washes over you before you get so full of Thanskgiving feasting that you slip into an unrecoverable coma.
