There are a lot of bands labeled as post punk, so many that the moniker is really meaningless. Described as a post-punk band, The Soft Pack are really a foursome with an ear for driving west coast rhythms. Their crunchy, straightforward guitars and simple lyrics have more in common with Lou Reed than The Clash so they’d probably be called post-post-punk. Their songs are laced with just enough disillusionment and angst to give the sunny splashes of sound some verve, perfect for these troubled times of desperation and quiet outrage.
