You may recognize Pomplamoose from their cover of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” which they released last year. The duo of Conte and Nataly Dawn have covered artists from Michael Jackson and Earth, Wind & Fire, to Simon and Garfunkel and Radiohead (watch “National Anthem”.)  They add to their already impressive resume with this cover of Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s “Telephone.”  Not only do they completely make the song their own, but they also manage to skewer Gaga’s over the top, go nowhere excercise in excess and obvious product placement with some tongue in check visuals of their own.

Ever thought to yourself, “I’d really like to hear some proper west coast gangster rap over this dub-step beat?”  More than likely the answer to that question is “No.”  But, it is with just that sensibility in mind that Killer Reese One and Troublemaker combine forces to form King Fantastic.  Stepping away from the remix game, Troublemaker begins the track off with some off his signature key stabs and what quickly follows is a dose of wobble sure to shake the hinges off your car doors.  Big Reese de Uno, repping both Compton and Venice, glides over the track with lo-rider swagger spitting lyrics like “you want fame? I can give it to you, daddy. I ain’t taken my meds for weeks and I am feeling fucking batty!” with menacing honesty.  It is with this line in the sand that the duo invite you to cross over in to the world of “Westcoastsynthesizerbeachbumgangstermusic.”

The Hundreds world premiered Alexander Spit’s music video for the next single off OPEN 24 HOURS, “No Baking Soda Allowed” today.  Alex, a San Fransisco native and recently LA transplant, has released ”8 solo albums completely self-produced, written, recorded, mixed, and distributed via hand-to-hand sales. He was also a member of the San Francisco and Los Angeles based Hip Hop crew, The Instant Messengers, who received acclaim for their unique sound and one of a kind live performance.”  Ever the writer Alexander is currently residing in L.A. working on his next solo project, as well as, prepping to rock stages at both Austin’s SXSW and Miami’s Winter Music Conference.
